If you are a beginner, you will pick Donna to teach you how to cut mosaics. You can then pick your own template from a variety of designs that Donna has created and they are priced at different price points. No prior jewellery making experience is needed—this class is perfect for beginners. With small class sizes, you’ll get plenty of personal attention from your tutor, Nadia, who will guide you every step of the way.

All tools, equipment and materials are provided. However, please wear closed-toed shoes and long hair tied back.  Do not wear floaty clothing and remove scarves and long items of jewellery that can get in the way when making.

What you will do in one session- making process:

• Explain various ways to calculate your ring size and use reference guides and tools to achieve this.

• Students will each be given a length of silver wire to work with during the class.  They will measure and saw their wire to size - guidance will be given on sawing and piercing metal - and file the ends.

• Once shaped and a tight, neat join is achieved they will be ready for soldering.

• I will demonstrate how to use the hand torch and safety measures required and then solder an example ring.

• After soldering, rings are ‘pickled’ in a warm solution to clean them of any fire scale and stain created from the heat - I use a small slow cooker for this 5min process.

• Reshape the rings on a ring mandrel using a mallet.

• Any excess solder will be removed by filing.

• Rings can then be put in the tumbler for polishing.

Nadia has been making jewellery since 2014. She studied multiple disciplines in various mediums before exploring further, old-fashioned silversmithing techniques whilst travelling around Bali.

Donna will be teaching different painting techniques each session, from watercolours, acrylics, pen and ink, brusho and much more. It is called “Social Painting” as the idea is that it is a relaxed, fun atmosphere for you to experience different methods in a well being atmosphere. All materials will be provided, including an apron, so just turn up and be creative. Beginners welcome and experienced artists as Donna will differentiate learning outcomes, with her teaching background

You will be expertly lead by Donna and shown all there is to know about the art of mosaics, using the highest quality Italian glass and porcelain tiles. Donna has a degree in art, with a focus on mosaics and spent time learning the art of mosaics in Ravenna, Italy, coupled with her teaching degree and years of teaching experience, you will be looked after. All materials and tools will be provided, along with refreshments. Please bring along your own lunch. It is a day event running from 11am and finishing around 4pm. This is suitable for beginners and ages 12+ and you do not need an artistic background, but a willing to learn something new! It is called “Social Painting” as the idea is that it is a relaxed, fun atmosphere for you to experience different methods in a well being atmosphere. All materials will be provided, including an apron, so just turn up and be creative. Beginners welcome and experienced artists as Donna will differentiate learning outcomes, with her teaching background
