Full day Weaving workshop 

A chilled , hands-on day of weaving with textiles specialist Laury ( seww_what studios ) where you’ll learn to read from patterns such as diamond weave and herringbone. The Course is tailored to students, so beginners are welcome on the course if you missed our taster session.

It is a full day course so bring a packed lunch to eat, although refreshments will be available for you.

What will I learn and take away ? 

You will learn a variety of weaving techniques such as : 

  • Plain weave 

  • Twining

  • Soumak weave

  • Loop weave 

  • Chain weave

  • Roving

  • How to read a weaving pattern 

  • Herringbone weave

  • Diamond weave 

You will use this technique to create a unique A4 wall-hanging , bookmark or rug mug.  

You’ll also leave with a little seww_what goodie bag to keep you making at home, and have oppourtunities to purchase hand crafted goods after the session.

This workshop is ideal for beginners and intermediates who enjoyed the taster and want to continue their weaving journey. No previous experience is needed.

what time does it start and finish?
The workshop runs from 10am-4pm with a lunch break.

can I take anything else home?
You'll also have the opportunity to purchase weaving starter packs, patterns and a one-of-a-kind piece made in the seww_what studio.

can I come more than once?
Of course! You're very welcome to come back, practise your skills and try something new.

how big are the classes?
We keep our workshops small so everyone has the chance to receive plenty of
one-to-one support.

do I need to bring anything?
All materials are provided, so there is nothing you need to buy.If you have any pre-loved rags, scraps of fabric or leftover yarn you'd like to weave with, you're very welcome to bring them along. I love giving existing materials another life - please don't feel you need to buy anything new for the workshop.
